1982 ஆம் ஆண்டு கோயம்புத்தூரில் தொடங்கப்பட்ட பல்கலைக்கழகம் கோயம்புத்தூர் பல்கலைக்கழகம் ஆகும். இந்தப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் 39 துறைகள் உள்ளன. இந்த எல்லா துறைகளும் சேர்த்து 54 பட்டம் மேற்படிப்புகளை நடத்தி வருகின்றன. இவை தவிர பிஎச்டி எனப்படும் டாக்டர் பட்ட படிப்பும் இங்கு நடத்தப்படுகிறது
கோயம்புத்தூர், ஈரோடு, திருப்பூர், மற்றும் நீலகிரி மாவட்ட மாணவ, மாணவிகள் பயன்பெறும் வகையில் இந்த பல்கலைக்கழகம் செயல்பட்டு வருகிறது.
இந்தப் பல்கலைக்கழகம் 143 கல்லூரிகளை அங்கீகரித்துள்ளது. தேசிய தர மதிப்பீட்டு கழகம் A++ (NAAC-A++) அங்கீகாரத்தை இந்த பல்கலைக்கழகத்திற்கு வழங்கியுள்ளது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.
இந்தப் பல்கலைக்கழகம் பல்வேறு பட்ட மேற்படிப்புகளையும், ஆராய்ச்சி படிப்புகளையும் நடத்துகிறது.
தொழில் நிறுவனங்களோடு இணைந்து பல்வேறு ஆராய்ச்சிகளை மேற்கொள்வதால், தரம் வாய்ந்த கல்வியை இந்த பல்கலைக்கழகம் வழங்கி வருகிறது.
